Some of Ghana’s finest music stars will be at the Accra International Conference Center on Friday, October 5 to perform alongside the final four contestants of the MTN Hit Maker.
The night promises to be a mega one as Samini, Kwaw ‘Abodam’ Kese, Guru and gospel diva Ohemaa Mercy will be entertaining the audience. The final four contestants are Naterial, Mirian, Atimbilla and Chiki.
The guest artiste for the night would be Nigerian showstopper Davido. Ohemaa Mercy will be performing alongside Miriam, Guru will be performing with Chiki, Abodam with Atimbilla and the dancehall don Samini will be rocking the stage with Naterial.
NEWS-ONE sources said the four contestants would be rehearsing with the star artistes from today, ahead of Friday’s contest.
Interestingly, Naterial has opted to do a live performance with Samini and that decision is raising eyebrows because not many Ghanaian artistes are fond of live performances.
The final four contestants are competing for a cash amount of GH¢100,000 and a year’s promotional package. The first runner-up will also walk home with a cash amount of GH¢50,000 and a year’s promotional package.
What makes this particular competition unique is that the contestants will be performing songs which they themselves composed. Indeed, for the 12 or so weeks they have been in the competition, MTN has sponsored them to record a professionally produced song week after week.
Impliedly, they each walk away with a complete album produced and registered in their names; a novelty that has never happened in the history of music reality shows.
Judges for the competition are Bessa Simons, a seasoned producer and keyboardist who is also the vice president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA); Ofie Kodjoe, a renowned singer and composer; and Zapp Mallet, Ghana’s celebrated sound engineer and producer.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians have an opportunity to vote for any of the final four by just typing the person’s name and sending it to MTN short code 1327.
