Emmanuel Andrews Samini, known in show biz circles as Samini, arguably one of Ghana’s biggest music stars at present has tied the knot again.
The low-key ceremony, which took place at the registrar General’s department in Accra on the morning on Tuesday May 10, brought together only close family and friends.
Conspicuously missing from the ceremony were fellow musicians and friends in the showbiz fraternity, an indication of the secret nature of the entire ceremony.
The king of African dancehall was full of smiles when the registrar declared him and his better half “as husband and wife” and was later seen in group photographs with the bridal train and some close well wishers.
The award-winning Ghanaian Afro-Reggae musician is famed for his crisp voice and hitting the right notes in his music career. But his love life sounded quite discordant a couple of years back when he got entangled in a love web that aptly reflected the title of his current musical creation, "CEO" which has the hit track "Sweet Mistake".
Samini recently made the news for marrying two women at the same time, a situation he later apologized for publicly.
Why Samini decided to do the whole ceremony a low-key event is still unknown but reliable sources at the registrar of Marriage indeed confirmed the nuptials, but refused to give details of who the bride is, although from all indications, the woman in question seems to have already had a child for the music icon because the baby was also present at the ceremony and was in the arms of Samini most of the time.
It would be recalled that Samini reportedly got engaged to Christiana Aboagye Mensah, at the time she was away in Canada with their six-year-old daughter (now 8 years), Toyila Samini in 2009.
Then in the first week of February 2010, Samini allegedly performed customary marriage rites to seal his relationship with another Ghanaian lady based in the UK, Ms. Geker, mother of his six-month old baby girl, Yelisun Samini.
The private ceremony took place in London between Samini’s family and Ms. Geker’s family.
It is not clear if those marriages have already been annulled or this is just another addition to the strings of marriages the music icon is involved in. Or perhaps its a formalization of his engagement to Christiana Aboagye Mensah.
Samini became a professional musician after a musical collaboration with another musician in 1999.
He received international recognition when he won the Best performer award at the 2009 edition of the MAMAs and also won the best African musical act award at the MOBO Awards in the United Kingdom in September 2006.
His second album was titled ‘Samini’ which won him three awards at the 2007 Ghana Music Awards and in February 2008, he won the Best African Artist Award at the Hip Hop World Awards in Nigeria.
His third album, Dagaati, was released in 2008 whiles his C.E.O. album which contains tracks like ‘Sweet mistake’ and ‘Tempo’ won him ‘Album of the year’ at the 2011 Ghana Music Awards.
