First Ghanaian artiste to win the prestigious Music of Black Origin (MOBO) award, Samini, has revealed the reason for composing his hit song ‘Gyae Shi.’
Samini, known in real life as Emmanuel Andrew Samini, revealed this in an exclusive interview with Abeiku Sanatana on his flagship programme ‘Atuu’ aired on UTV and on Youtube every Saturday evening.
The interview saw Samini sharing his journey in the Ghanaian music industry and how he aided other artistes to become who they are today.
When quizzed by the host on why he [Samini] composed his hit banger ‘Gyae Shi’ to wit ‘Stop Smoking’, the 2018 VGMA Reggae Song of the year disclosed that he composed the song when he was very young after he blended ‘wee’ with Akpeteshie one hot afternoon and realised that Akpeteshie was better than ‘wee.’
“It’s a long story; I was very young at that time and I remember that very afternoon I blended the two and that was my experience,” he confessed.
