Social Entrepreneur and C.E.O. of Sangy Nursing Services, Sara Nana

Yeboah has set her sights as a Game Changer towards improving the

healthcare of the less privileged in society. Her achievements have

propelled her to reach the finals of the 2014 edition of the Game

Changers competition which is aimed at helping individuals running

initiatives to improve education in their community.

The “Florence Nightingale” of Africa is the Founder of Sangy

Foundation, a non- profit organisation which provides nursing services

including medical screening and outreach, home care for kids and the

aged as well as mentoring support for young girls.

Faced with a myriad of challenges including few volunteers,

transportation and inadequate funding, she has still persevered to

provide health education, embarked on promotion and prevention

programs and medical screening programs to children, youth and adults

in schools, churches, and organizations.

The nurse has renovated and painted schools across rural Ghana, paid

medical bills and registered over 2,000 kids for the National health

Insurance Scheme (NHIS) at her own cost.

She is currently working on an initiative aimed at distributing over

10,000 free school uniforms to children.

She told XFM’s David Apinga in an interview that she hopes to win the

prize money to expand her services and initiatives to the rest of

Africa.

“Statistics from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) show that about

750,000 of girls get pregnant each year.”

Our analyses and statistics show that more of these girls do not have

quality health information, screening and empowerment services.”

“We hope to help more than 750,000 girls every year and even more with

the money”.

The nurse has a vision to also provide health education for young

people to reduce deaths under the age of 40.

To vote Sara Nana Yeboah to win the GHC50, 000 cash award in order to

touch more lives text “GC 4” to the short code 5210 for Tigo and
