Management of Ghana’s artiste of the year at this year’s GMAs Sarkodie known in real life as Michael Owusu has come out to deny and rejoin the story published by 18newspaper.com that Sarkodie bags GH¢1M as Vodafone Icon.

According to a management member of Sarkodie, the artiste is not a Vodafone Icon. The member noted:

‘what Sarkodie did was to endorse a product from Vodafone which is the vodafonelive.com.gh As a matter of fact, he as an artiste of the year for the VGMA though it wise to support such a laudable idea from a company that seeks the welfare of musicians hence his involvement with the network.’

He maintained:

‘Sarkodie endorsed the product just as the very same way Nigeria super star D'Banj and that event happened recently at the launch.

The deal is this, Sarkodie felt as coming up as artiste he suffered getting his songs there, studio cost is very expensive so why does an artiste do a song and put it on facebook for free download. If that is the case then when an artiste completes a single, he should put it on Vodafonelive for fans to download for only 40p, which to him is fantastic, Sammy lamented. **
