I remember clearly when someone sent a text when I was on air asking who the best rapper is comparing Sarkodie with M.anifest. Comparing these two rappers is not trouble-free because they are all good in their own ways.

Answering the person who sent that text, I said M.nifest cannot be compared to Sarkodie when it comes to achievements but comparing their current works, M.anifest has upper hand over Sarkodie. I guess I was neutral on that case since I think I didn’t stick my neck out to choose one over the other because to me, they are all good.

At the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Sarkodie with his ‘Rap Attack’ track won the award for the best rapper of the year category which had nominees like M.anifest, E.L, Guru and Trigmatic.

Last two music group boss, Hammer analyzing this year’s awards ceremony on Radio Univers said he will choose Sarkodie over M.anifest for the best rapper of the year category.

“I think Sarkodie deserved it more. M.anifest is a great rapper but for that particular one, I would have rooted for Sarkodie.”

On why he thinks Sarkodie deserved the best rapper but not M.anifest, Hammer explained that, “I look inside rap more than a lame man does. I’m looking at Sarkodie’s advancement from a talented artiste to a superior artiste and the kind of things he says – the metaphor and the lines he conjures.”

“Sarkodie is a phenom for rap in our industry. I studied him last year and I thought he did well. M.anifest did well but Sarkodie deserved that award.” He added.

He concluded that “you can disagree with me because we are in a democratic world. There is no problem when you disagree with me because it is my opinion”.

Sarkodie together with Guru, Lil Win and Castro will face Davido, Kcee and Wizboyy from Nigeria at this year’s GHANA meets NAIJA concert slated for May 24 at the Accra International Conference Center.
