Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, failed to show up to perform at the One Africa Music Fest in Dubai.
Sarkodie, landed in the United Arab Emirates capital with his team on Wednesday, and were present at the pre-event party that evening.
According to a report by Nkonkonsa.com, the rapper went for a sound check ahead of the concert on Thursday evening, and was seemingly ready to perform but never mounted the stage.
The report stated Sarkodie has been billed to perform next after Naija artiste Tekno, but the host of the concert, Banky W rather called artiste Davido to perform next, after deliberations with the organizers offstage.
The concert featured performances from about 20 artistes from countries such as Ethiopia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Kenya, Angola and South Africa started around 9pm and ended at almost 3 am on Friday.
YEN.com.gh further gathered that Sarkodie had earlier announced his decision not to perform via his Twitter page and apologized to his Ghanaian fans who were expecting him at the concert. He tweeted: “Sorry to fans in Dubai but I'm not performing... hopefully I make it next time.”
Sarkodie’s official dj, DJ Mensah, was extremely displeased with the actions of the organizers, commenting under Sarkodie’s tweet: “Total disrespect- One Africa and we can’t even live up to the name.”
There has been no official word from the organizers of the concert regarding the incident.
