Sean PaulAfter the sensational tour of Jay-Z and Osibisa?s MOGO show in Accra, another thriller of a musical concert will hit Accra this weekend with the 2004 Grammy Award winner Sean Paul, in the thick of it.

Akon, the sweet American singer, has been touted as the MC for the occassion with Rap Heavyweight Lord Kenya and MOBO Award winner, Batman Samini, constituting a Ghanaian force to take on the American invasion.

As the fever of the ensuing extravaganza spreads through the capital and beyond, its ripples are being felt far and wide with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) demanding a level playing field on behalf of its members.

In a statement released in Accra in connection with the coming of Sean Paul and signed by the union?s PRO, MUSIGA entreated the organisers to endeavour to go by the agreed regulations.

Sean Paul, winner of the 2004 Grammy Award for reggae and one of America?s most wanted artistes is to lead the pack intended to shake the Accra International Conference Centre this Saturday.

It will be Paul?s first ever concert in Ghana and it brings him face to face with some of Ghana?s best exponents of contemporary rap.

The collaboration is expected to be mutually beneficial and give patrons value for money. If the performances of these two top local artistes in recent times is anything to go by, then something will happen on Saturday.

Showbiz had a pre-event interview with Cox Tamakloe of Joy FM, Co-organisers of the show who said all was set for one of the best ever events to be witnessed by Ghanaians.

"The eyes of the world goes on Sean Paul when he travels so you can imagine that it?s not going to be a child?s play," were the words of the optimistic Cox.

Also slated for the night is a fashion show as well as the One Touch Audience Choice Award which Cox explained to the effect that the most glamorous lady, to be voted for by the audience, will walk away with a cool $1,000.

Said Cox Tamakloe, "when we spoke to Sean on Joy FM, he said he had a lot of surprises for Ghanaians including doing one or two songs that he is yet to release."

Joy FM?s Bola Ray will be the other MC for the night and the audience can be assured that Bola will flow without, having hosted shows of high profile over the years.

The gates will open at 7pm for the show to kick off at 8pm sharp.

In his running television promos Sean Paul keeps telling Ghanaians that he will be in town for a grand show on December 9.

The Sean Paul show is being put together by Babs Entertainment, Joy FM, Akon and One Touch.

Showbiz reported last week that negotiations were ongoing to enable the hiplife duo Wutah and Samini to perform but it looks like the organisers did not pursue negotiations with Wutah?s management but settled for the rap heavyweight champion, Lord Kenya whom they had hinted on the upcoming show right after the Nite with the Stars.
