Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has shared his opinion on the current state of the entertainment industry.
The actor known for his ‘Loverboy’ roles in movies said most organizations have now resorted to giving their platforms to undeserving actors to perform a specific task for them.
Osei expressed his sentiment about how certain irrelevant issues have made ‘unqualified’ people become celebrities and brand ambassadors while potential people have been ignored because the system has now become a way such that organizations extol unnecessary actions which affect the entertainment industry negatively.
The actor was speaking in relation to the recent Golden Movie Awards held at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra.
According to him, the organizers of the awards scheme were reported to have allowed one socialite, Rosemond Brown who was called on stage on Saturday to present an award at the 2018 Golden Movie Awards.
“Akuampem Poloo” as she is widely known, has in such a short span of time become very famous for her social media outbursts and comments.
Speaking to Hitz FM, Monday, Prince David Osei said; “Now when you are stupid and you say stupid stuff you become a star, you become a brand ambassador or a celebrity and we are losing it. People are working so hard and there are a lot of up and coming actors doing so good but they don’t recognize them. But when you give the platform to fools to come on stage and misbehave…”
He was cut short by Hitz FM presenter to avoid further usage of vulgar words.
The actor claimed he was absent at the event because the application process to an invitation to the event were completely needless and disrespectful.
