“If they take advantage of the opportunity available, a lot of people will go for the programme, and it would be a huge success,” Fred Kyei Mensah (Fredyma) has said.

He was speaking on Shatta Wale’s proposed Dancehall King clash between him and his archrival Stonebwoy at the Accra/Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium.

“This is showbiz. Let’s not only think about the show or entertainment part but also consider the business aspect,” Fredyma said.

“I’m telling you, if these two want to collaborate and do this show, they’ll make so much money,” he added.

The legendary music producer said there need not be a clear winner “so there will be a part 2” to maximize the entertainment and economic value of the event.

“It’s a business strategy,” he stressed. “They should use a healthy beef to project themselves and the country,” taking advantage of the fact that “a lot of people will be coming into the country for the Christmas holidays.”

Fredyma said the rivalry between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale was not based on real hatred “but just for clout.”

He said that looking at the pedigree and exploits of both Reggae/Dancehall artistes in recent times, “if they stage this event, it will be massive at the stadium.”

“They will fill the venue, they will make money – they could charge GH¢50 – people will go. But there should be a tie, and we’ll give them both a plaque each,” the musician and sound engineer emphasized.

Fredyma underscored the mammoth fan base of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, noting, “The youth of today look up to them.”

“They are both assets to the nation,” he eulogized. “If they will be strategic, put their egos aside, and do business, they’ll go far.”

Fredyma spoke to Prince Benjamin (PB) on Accra 100.5 FM's Entertainment Capital on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
