Shatta Wale appeals for ‘music ambassador’ from President Akufo-Addo

Dancehall musician Shatta Wale has appealed to the President of Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint an ambassador for Ghana’s music industry.

According to the self-proclaimed dancehall king, the ‘music ambassador’ will teach the youth what music entails; the business that comes along with the fun.

“We being young men and instrumental to the youth, I feel you need to support the hard working ones in it especially myself and Stonebwoy. We need just two ambassadors for Ghana’s music industry, not only for performance sake but to teach the youth what music entails because most of them see it as fun. There has been so much talks that the government doesn’t support but I believe we don’t help ourselves” he stressed.

The musician made this call when he finally visited the President upon his request he made when the President wished him a Happy Birthday on October 17.

The ‘Kakai’ singer told the first man of the land that with his huge following, He believes the ambassadorial position when given to him, will affect lots of lives.

“I have got the youth listening to me and I feel they look up to me. People know where I came from to where I have gotten to and I feel it is a motivation to the youth coming up” he explained.

Shatta Wale said most of the young guys he normally talks to feels that he used other means to be where he is now but the dancehall musician said it is all about hard work and dedication.

President Akufo-Addo on his part said it is an excellent initiative and they need to be encouraged.

“It is an excellent initiative and definitely needs to be encouraged, so we will do that,” he said.
