Media personality and Public Relations Officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Mawuli Ekpe Peter popularly known as Abro has spoken out in defense of Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale, lauding him as the country’s most hardworking musician.

During a discussion on a Kumasi-based radio station monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Abro addressed recent criticisms by entertainment pundit Sally Mann, positioning Shatta Wale as a trailblazer in Ghana’s music industry.

“Shatta Wale is destined to lead Ghanaian music. He has shown an unmatched commitment to his craft, and no one can take that away from him,” he said.

The conversation stemmed from Sally Mann’s ongoing critiques of Shatta Wale, which have often focused on his controversial public behavior. Man has repeatedly accused Wale of being disrespectful and overly reactive, but Abro painted a different picture.

“People love to label him as unpredictable or troublesome, but the truth is, Wale only responds to people who provoke him,” Abro explained.

He referenced a specific incident involving Sally Mann and Shatta Wale, describing it as a clash initiated by Mann’s harsh verbal attacks. “Sally Mann confronted him publicly, and he simply gave her a dose of her own medicine. What did she expect?”

Abro further argued that Sally Mann’s critiques have shifted from being constructive to deeply personal.

“Initially, we respected her commentary because it seemed to come from a place of helping the industry grow. But now, it feels like a personal vendetta against Shatta Wale,” he remarked.

As a vocal supporter of Shatta Wale, Abro emphasized the need for fairness in how public figures address artists. “Sally Mann has become divisive. You can’t poke someone repeatedly and then act surprised when they react. If she continues this path, Shatta Wale’s responses will keep coming,” he added.
