The Ghana music industry has seen music groups fall apart, friendships turn sour and celebrity marriages collapse to the surprise of many.
One other form of split worth focusing on is the artiste-management relationship.
Regardless of what caused the separation, some of these artistes have had their careers affected as they have been unable to find their feet after the split.
One of the saddest artiste-manager breakups that shocked the Ghanaian music industry happens to be between Celebrated female traditional artiste; Sherifa Gunu and Reagan Mends.
Sherifa Gunu, who is well noted with the hit song ‘Yumyantaaba’ and a Tourism Ambassador, broke up with Reagan Mends in 2012 after working for just a year.
They were arguably one of the best artiste-management pairs in Ghana’s music industry.
They teamed up to release Sherifa’s biggest hit song ‘ Mbrantie’ that got Sherifa numerous nominations across the world.
It’s quite unclear what masterminded the breakup, but after seven(6) years of their separation,Razzonline.com can state emphatically that the most successful female Traditional artiste Sherifa Gunu, has reunited with Reagan Mends.
In a video shared on social media, Sherifa and Reagan announced their come-back amidst chirpily singing the ‘Mbrantie’ hit song at Sherifa’s house in Accra.
Reagan Mends, a product of Adisadel College, in 2007 became the first and youngest Ghanaian artiste manager, to manage a traditional artiste (King Ayisoba) to win the overall top award at the Ghana Music Awards.
He was also the manager of the late dancehall/hiplife artiste Terry Bonchaka and Okuraseni Samuel.
Currently, a journalist at Hot 93.9FM and Editor of Razzonline.com, Reagan Mends aka Online News Surgeon who takes up the mantle as Sherifa Gunu’s newest manager, is surely the experienced and trusted manager the ‘Mbrantie’ hitmaker needs to replenish her musical career again.
