The former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Alhaji Sidiku Buari, has advised the youth to be law-abiding and also desist from acts that seek to undermine their progress.
The former MUSIGA president, who was the guest of honour at the 29th graduation and speech and prize giving day of Dzorwulu Junior High School in Accra, called on teachers and parents to make education a legacy that would hasten development of the country.
Speaking on the theme ‘Quality Education, The Best Field To Invest’, Alhaji Sidiku Buari said the theme for the celebration stressed that education must go beyond imparting book knowledge, and inculcate in students moral and ethical values which would contribute to development in the country.
He also called for capacity building for teachers who are the key change agents or stakeholders in the drive towards toward raising tomorrow’s leaders.
Alhaji Sidiku Buari, who is also the former vice president of the International Federation of Musicians (FIM), advised the students who are the future leaders to take their academic work very serious in order to meet the challenges ahead of them.
“As a former sports man, I took my sporting career seriously and with determination I won silver medal for my country at the All African Games held in Senegal in 1963,” he said.
Alhaji Sidiku Buari urged parents to show true commitment to the overall development of their children by sacrificing their comfort, bearing in mind that if the children became better placed in future, parents would also benefit.
He asked the students to take their studies seriously and maintain discipline in everything they did, cautioning them to be of good behaviour now that the school had been named after him, so that they did not drag his name through the mud.
