Ghanaian musician Sherifa Gunu has revealed that showbiz in Ghana is collapsing, hence it is time for us to restructure the industry.
In order to build a strong industry, there has been an argument over the passing of playing 80 percent Ghanaian content into law, for massive promotion of our own content.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra with Doctar Cann she said, “ It is about time we stop so many things and be serious for the improvement of the industry”
She also mentioned that, a very renowned South African presenter Turan, is here in Ghana working with her just to ensure that her music gets to the top, hence Ghana must do better.
“Turan, the most champion African for all TV stations in South Africa, is in Ghana working with Sherifa Gunu. It is time for Ghanaians to change things. Showbiz is really collapsing,” she indicated.
Sherifa Gunu however cited an example insisting that, she did not get massive support some time ago but she has now had her breakthrough. however other people get opportunities but fail to deliver.
“There was a day I watch one of our female artiste, she is too vibrant and talented. Her voice is too sweet, but somewhere along the line, it is like we are lazy. A lot of them have opportunities, but I didn’t get that kind of management. Some of them have people to push them for the whole world to know. This is showbiz so if confidence is attached to the song, you are a hero, what is this ?” she quizzed.
Sherira Gunu is currently promoting her new track ‘Kelewele’ produced by IbeeonDeBeatz which was first premiered on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra on Saturday.
Sherifa Gunu participated in the 2003 Hiplife dance championship with the likes of King Ayisoba and Terry Bonchaka. However, she became first runner up to the late Terry Bonchaka in the finals of the championship.
