Ghanaian musician Sam Sarfo Junior, popularly known as Showboy, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service, days after a video capturing him allegedly resisting arrest surfaced on social media.

In a video currently circulating online, the musician was seen handcuffed and interacting with police officers.

During the exchange, Showboy repeatedly expressed frustration, saying, “This is so… wrong.”

A voice behind the camera claimed to be from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, stating that officers had been ordered to bring Showboy in for detention.

A police officer who identified herself as ASP was also heard engaging the musician.

In the footage, Showboy requested water and asked to speak to his doctor, claiming he is a psychiatric patient and needs access to his psychiatrist. The officers were heard responding calmly as they attempted to manage the situation.

The arrest follows an earlier attempt at Showboy’s residence.

In that particular incident, individuals believed to be CID officers attempted to arrest him while he was live on TikTok. The confrontation, which was also captured on video, quickly went viral.

Showboy appeared visibly upset and challenged the officers, insisting they had failed to present proper arrest documents.

He refused to accompany them, telling both the officers and his online audience that he could not be arrested without official authorisation.

Meanwhile, the reasons behind his arrest are yet to be officially communicated by the Ghana Police Service.
