Casting actors for movie roles can be a tough decision as the profession requires the right characters to make production worth it. But what can be more challenging is getting A-list performers who may be a good fit for a storyline to agree to the script of a producer and agree to the deal on the table.
In the case of the CEO of OldFilm Productions, Peter Sedufia, his chances of hiring the services of actors for his new film ‘Sidechic Gang’ which is set to premier on Saturday March 3, at the Silverbird Cinema’s at the Accra Mall and West Hills Mall was secured by a third party who took the tedious task off his shoulders.
According to Sedufia, one Mawuko of MK Casting who’s popular for recruiting and auditioning actors for some local producers even to the international level was at his beck and call when the idea of shooting the new movie came up.
Peter at a Press Conference to brief the media about the concept of the yet-to-be-released movie and future productions said “everybody can act but sometimes putting all those burdens on you will be stressful” hence his decision to outsource the duty.
He narrated saying, “I have been seeing Mawuko’s poster, casting for an international film among others and so I decided to contact him to also cast for a Ghanaian movie and he has been of a great help to me.”
“He had an audition to cast a lot of people but some of them he handpicked for me just because he had read the script and knew who would fit and suggested them to me. We watched videos of their performances and I agreed to it,” he added.
Sidechic Gang features fascinating actors such as Nana AmaMcBrown, Lydia Forson, Sika Osei, AdjeteyAnang, Bernard Nyarko, Eddie Kufour, Akofa Edjeane and a host of other great actors.
Sidechic Gang is about three female friends who found out they can make fortunes from exposing cheating husbands and boyfriends after making tons of cash unexpectedly from reporting a cheating husband to the wife.
They quit their ushering job to set up "Sidechic Gang" - an agency solely dedicated to clamping down the side chick menace. Their services are available to only women.
After few exposè, their Sidechic Gang becomes popular, attracting traffic from victims of side chicks. This translates into more cash for them. The men in the town are unhappy with the sudden popularity of the gang.
The Sidechic Gang's biggest deal is yet to hit them. It comes from a filthy rich man who suspects his fiancée is cheating on him. He is aware the gang does not serve men, but, he is willing to pay anything it costs to justify his suspicion.
The gang takes on the task. They know what this means for their bank account. Their greatest opposition, however, is the many aggrieved men who benefit from the services of side chicks, and would do anything to ensure they fail.
Peter Sedufia is the producer of the award winning film 'Keteke'. Detailing how much he made from his debut film which hit the screens late 2017, he said the production house made just a little over how much they invested in the movie but he is however optimistic that the latest film will break cinema records of other movies by some local producers.
He disclosed that Keteke is currently showing on eight (8) international airlines; namely: KLM, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Rwandan Air, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenyan Airways, Royal Air Maroc and Tunis Air, won awards and nominations AMAA, AFRIFF, Golden Movie Awards and FESTICAB.
