Silverbird treats public to free Indian movies this week

Movie lovers have a reason to smile, as Silverbird Cinemas in partnership with the Indian High Commission will for the second time, be treating the public to free screenings of a variety of Indian Movies from the 25th to 31st January of 2013.

A selection of some of the top movies that will be showing include “Making of Mahatma”, a film on the journey of Mahatma Gandhi, from Britain to South Africa and India, and events that led to him heading a revolution to become the father of the nation, “Mother India”, an epic saga of the sufferings of poor peasants in India represented by a poverty-stricken woman who raises her sons through many trials and tribulations without compromising her own moral code in spite of her struggles.

Others showing from Bollywood, one the world’s biggest movie industry include Baghban, Nehru, Sangam, Sardar Patel, Mr. India, Ghulam, Swaraj, Yaadon Ki Baarat, Sarfarosh, and Maine Pyar Kiya. Two movies will be shown each day during the period.

The Festival of Indian Films was created to form part of the celebration of the Republic day of India which falls on Wednesday, 26th January 2013, and to celebrate India and strengthen the bond between the Indian and Ghanaian communities.

“Following the huge success and patronage of the first Indian film festival and the positive feedback we received from the public, Silverbird Cinemas and the Indian High Commission decided to hold a second edition to offer another great experience to the public. This year is even bigger, with specially selected top rated films in India, written, produced and starring leading actors from Bollywood. It is going to be an exciting week for the public and Indian movie lovers in particular” noted Mr. Kwaku Yankson Marketing Manager of Silverbird.
