Singing only in local language won’t sell your music globally – Ball J to Ghanaian artistes

Renowned Sound Engineer Albert Ayeh-Hanson, popularly known as Ball J, has expressed worry about the trend of Ghanaian music put out there.

He revealed that if Ghanaian artistes insist on singing in the local language despite using American instrumentation, it will be difficult to sell their music on the international market.

He stated that most foreigners attend shows performed by Ghanaian musician Atongo because of the instrumentation that has an African feel to it and not the language.

Speaking on Onua FM’s Efie Ne Fie with Dr. Prekese, Ball J, who is also a rapper, said Ghanaian musicians should not expect their music to sell outside Ghana if they only sing in the local dialect while adapting American style of instrumentation.

Also speaking on his own music, the rapper who has released ‘Nana Aba’, ‘Lullaby’ and ‘Stand Up’ said he intends to take Ghana to the next level with his music, which is with a mixture of both local and international feel.

Ball J is currently signed on to an US-based record label Platinum Management and an ambassador for Rocabella Brands, which is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in need.
