Nollywood movie fans over the weekend applauded the latest African movie, ‘Single & Married’, produced by Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson as a very good movie.

On Friday evening, the movie made an entry into Nollywood cinema with a premiere at the Silverbird Cinema, Galleria, located in the heart of Nigeria’s rich neighborhood Victoria Island. The ceremony attracted hundreds of Nigeria movie fans and a large number of Nollywood media, who trooped to the cinema to witness the historic movie with an amazing cast of different career backgrounds. It was directed by Pascal Amanfo.

Most of the movie’s scenes were greeted with laughter and cheering in enthusiasm; an obvious indication that the movie served the purpose for which it was produced. It is not a comedy but there is enough to laugh about in this movie.

The cast, including Kofi Adjorlolo, Efya, new Ghanaian actor Kweku Elliot, Chris Attoh, Eddie Watson, Tiffany, Nadia Buari, Tana, and Yvonne Nelson, put up a top-notch performance which wowed the audience at the premiere.

As anticipated, the premiering event ended with applauds from some of the audience, with some screaming, “Congratulations Yvonne; this is a good movie. There are good lessons to learn from this movie.” The movie, narrated by Ghana’s iconic presenter Anita Erskine, delves into the intricacies of marriage and the challenges of being single, with focus on young adults. The storyline raised serious issues about why spouses cheat on their partners and how to stop them. But it was told in a rather subtle, entertaining way. It is indeed a must-see movie.

Also adding to the colourful premiering event was the number of Ghanaian celebrities who graced the red carpet. Yvonne Okoro, Majid Michel, Prince David Osei, Eddie Watson, Fred Nuamah, songstresses Efya and Irene Logan and Fashion 101 anchor Sandra Ankorbiah were all at the red carpet event to support Yvonne Nelson.

Ahead of the premiere, the celebrities visited some of Nigeria’s influential media houses including Silverbird TV in Lagos, Rhythm FM and Cool FM. It was quite interesting how the Ghanaian celebrities shook the airwaves. There were a few Azonto moments when Efya and host of the late Friday morning show on Cool FM gave some steps in the studio while other celebrities applauded them.

Yvonne is expected to tour Africa with the movie, following reports that some African countries can’t wait to see the movie and meet her and the cast.
