Six fined for defecating at beaches

Sekondi, May 13, GNA- The Sekondi Magistrate's Court on Thursday fined six people a total of 1.2 million cedis for defecating at the Essikadu and Sekondi beaches.

They pleaded guilty and asked for leniency.


Mr. Anthony Hayford, the Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Environmental Health prosecutor said the accused person were arrested around 0800 hours on May 13, by some Metropolitan guards who were on duty along the roads.

He said the behaviour of the accused persons could lead to an outbreak of diseases in the Metropolis.


Mr. Hayford said though there are modern places of convenience along the beaches, many people living along the beaches, are refusing to patronise them.
