THE Slim Buster show that came off at Next Door, Teshie on December, 21 lived up to the pre-show expectations. It attracted such a crowd that there didn’t seem to be enough chairs for the large crowd that turned up for the show.

However equipment provided for the show for the evening by V-103 proved to be a disappointment as the sound quality did not help the artistes especially the microphones which made them all strain to be heard. But that did not stop the crowd from enjoying themselves. Music prior to the show was boring and it was not until Kofi Okyere Darko one of the MC’s for the show mounted the stage that the direction of music was changed to highlife.

Terry Bonchaka who opened the show put up a very good performance that got all dancing and singing. Terry, fast making a name for himself and carving an image peculiar to him used his haircut, dressing and specialised dance movements with one of his legs stretched out and held by a hand while jumping on the other to enthral the crowd. The lighting was also not too good but that did not seem to have bothered the music lovers who enjoyed themselves despite the lapses.

The mere mention of Adane Best was enough to evoke a roar from them and supported by three dancers he performed songs from his latest album which they gladly joined in singing and dancing to.Logorzor, then Sidney sent the crowd into a frenzy they were followed by Nana Quame who did his routine with the support of Paa T. Tic Tac revisited Philomena and the crowd went wild as he kept them screaming, singing, and dancing as he did his other songs. It was indeed a class act and they loved it.

Then it came to the turn of Slim Buster and all hell broke loose. But instead of the expected dancing by the crowd, they only sang along and watched spellbound as Slim went through his routine of singing and dancing.Slim with his dancing posse including Fire Killer, a former dance champion gave the audience so much it kept them rooted to their seats in complete awe.

Slim’s prowess as a dancer was in full bloom and the audience applauded continuously in appreciation of his wonderful dancing skills and creativity which was enjoyed immensely.Bob Okalla’s inclusion on the show was a mistake and the crowd did not hesitate in clapping him out. Sony Achiba who also proved to be a good dancer with his supporting dancers, and Fire Killer made a deep impression on the crowd.

Koofori of Radio Gold was extremely good as an MC and the crowd loved him especially for his jokes which went down well with them. The Slim Buster Show was a good one and one hopes that since it is going to be an annual affair the issue of the sound equipment would be looked at.
