The Ghanaian gospel music industry has been knocking on the doorsteps of the international scene for so long that hope was waning but gladly a son of Ghana is opening the doors. Sonnie Badu is one of the chosen worship leaders of our time, a songwriter, composer, arranger and business man.
His unique blend of intimate worship, high class visuals, and his energetic style of ushering congregations into the presence of God is affecting lives worldwide.
On 31st of May 2010, Sonnie will share the stage once again with some of the world’s greatest gospel icons such as Donnie McClurkin, Bebe&Cece Winnans, Faith Evans, Yolanda Adams, Martha Munizzi and J Moss etc, at Wembley Arena, London, UK.
Oraclez is described as the biggest gospel event to hit the stage in the UK and it normally attracts one of the biggest crowds in gospel music history.
The Wembley Arena has had its platform used by the greatest in the world such as Michael Jackson, Rihanna, ABBA, Beyoncé, Gloria Estefan, Ozzy Osbourne etc.. The Arena seats about 12,500 and it is London's second largest indoor arena after the O2 arena and third largest indoor concert venue after the O2 and Earls Court One.
Sonnie Badu 'The Worshipper', as he is popularly known was called by God at a very tender age. His testimony even at the age of 24 is one of struggle and triumph. He can be simply described as “a man after Gods own heart”.
Sonnie Badu's success is not only confirmed by the commercial acclaim his music is receiving throughout the world, but also with the great names in Gospel he has ministered alongside the likes of Juanita Bynum, Noel Robinson, Donnie McClurkin, Ron Kenoly, Panam Percy Paul, Muyiwa, Graham Kendricks, Lionel Peterson, Sammy Okposu, Mike Aremu, Alvin Slaughter are just a few to wet our curious taste buds; but not only this, he has specially been invited to usher in the presence of God at major conferences with renown preachers of the gospel such as Archbishop Duncan Williams, Reverend Matthew Ashimolowo, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Bishop David Oyedepo, etc.
Growing up in Ghana, Sonnie has worked alongside some of the top Gospel artists and Ministers of God all over the world. When you speak with Sonnie it is clear that one of the things that sets him apart from his peers is the simplicity with which he administers deep revelations of God. Worship touches the heart of God, and an understanding that this is the one thing God cannot do for himself is what makes Sonnie a servant and a friend of God.
In 2009 alone, Sonnie Badu won 5 awards including Best Gospel Act UK, 2009 at the BEFFTA Awards and Europe Best Gospel Artist, 2009. Sonnie performed in Ghana last November to his teeming fans and gospel enthusiast across the country.
