The man credited with introducing an interesting twist to the hiplife genre, Sony Achiba is returning to Ghana to mount the country’s music stage after about a decade’s absence.
Sony Achiba stormed the Ghanaian music scene with his hip-dia, a unique combination of Ghana’s hiplife and India’s Carnatic and Hindustani music, spiced with his fluid dance steps to the delight of many who saw him as a breath of fresh air to the industry.
After thrilling fans with several hits including the ever popular, Gyamere Woyare, Sony Achiba has been on the hiatus in the United Kingdom not singing but producing music.
He is however set to quench the thirst of the hundreds of fans at the maiden Back In The Day concert scheduled to come off at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre on September 21.
Organizers of the resurrection concert, Empire Entertainment, led by ace entertainment personality, Bola Ray, and MediaGH, have told Myjoyonline.com that Sony Achiba will arrive in Ghana on Saturday ahead of the concert.
Themed on the genesis of a vibrant music genre that took Ghana by storm in the 1990s, Back In The Day concert, will reincarnate the days of Reggie Rockstone, the Grand papa of hiplife, Obrafour, NFL, T-Blaze, NFL, Akatakyie, Akyeame, Slim Busterr, VIP, TH 4 Kwages, Samini (Batman), Tic Tac, Ex-Doe and a host of others on one stage, on one night.
Apart from the unparalleled music patrons will be served with, ace producer, Da Hammer of the Last Two and Reggie Rockstone will be celebrated at the event for their immense contributions to the genre.
Another artiste, Ded Buddy, now Qweci, organizers have said, has also arrived in the country from his base in the US to prepare for the much anticipated concert.
