The second edition of the Soul II Soul old school music jam held at the +233 Jazz Bar & Grill on February 1 was nothing short of spectacular.

The event lived up to the high standards set at the maiden edition held on New Year’s Eve.

A record number of music lovers experienced a fun-packed event, cementing Soul II Soul’s credibility as the city’s preferred old school music destination.

The atmosphere was charged with an electrifying performance from the sensational Ohia Beye Ya Band, led by the talented Kwame Yeboah, on a night that saw old school music taken to a whole new level.

The event was given a refreshing new push with surprise act of the night, Afriyie of the famed music duo Wutah, treating the audience to a body-twisting-knee-bending “kutu sa” experience.

The February 1 event also featured adorable singer Ofie Kodjoe, and the ever powerful vocalist Nana Yaa, who provided an impressive repertoire of retro music, much to the admiration of patrons.

Performances from the live band were intertwined with old school music from top rated DJs keeping the mature audience up on their feet all night.

“Oh my God… I had a great time!!!” a satisfied patron who is visiting Ghana for the first time said, as she left the venue.

With great food and a wide assortment of drinks from +233, there was never a dull moment.

The success of the second edition is indicative of how well the concept, which fuses live and recorded music on a single platform, has been received.

An impressive second edition it was, patrons can only look forward to an entertaining third, which “will offer a triple dose of the excitement witnessed on February 1” the organizers have promised.

Soul II Soul is powered by Karl Aubyn Events & +233 Jazz Bar and Grill and features an exciting collection of local and international old school music including Soul, Funk, Highlife, Hiplife, R&B, and Afrobeat among other genres.

The next edition comes off on the first Friday of next month, 1st March 2013.
