Accra, Oct. 14, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday called on the authorities of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to speed up the work of the committee probing circumstances that led to the attacks on song star, Mzbell. A statement signed by Frances Asiam, National Women's Organizer, said those involved in the "disgraceful conduct" should be sanctioned where possible.

According to the statement, NDC was disgusted at the alleged attacks on the "hip-life" artiste, Nana Akua Amoah (a.k.a. Mzbell), by some students of the KNUST after a performance on the campus. The NDC said the assault showed complete disregard for the basic tenets of decency and respect for women.

It added that it constituted, not only an abuse of the fundamental right of the artiste, but also an affront to womanhood.

The Party said the reckless action of the students had not only brought the image of KNUST into disrepute but also succeeded in questioning the moral integrity of the male students of the University. The NDC said Mzbell had been subjected to such vile attacks and urged all concerned citizens to act and restore confidence in her to enable her to pursue her talent.
