Takoradi (W/R), Aug. 22, GNA - The Spice FM radio station which began test transmission on 91.9 megahertz since May 2004 would start full operation on Monday, August 23, bringing the number of FM radio stations in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis to six and fourteen in the Western Region.

Mr Stephen Abass Miezan, chief executive officer of the station told the Ghana News Agency at Takoradi on Saturday that, with its five kilowatts transmitter, Spice FM hopes to bring to the people of the region exclusive entertaining and educative programmes "that would shake the foundation of the radio kingdom" in the region.

"We shall pursue a policy of objectivity in our coverage to bring out only the truth and nothing but the truth to our listeners".

Mr Miezan said as a community radio station, Spice FM radio would broadcast about 80 per cent of its programmes including news coverage in Akan and 20 per cent in English.

The station would initially try to extend transmission to all the 13 districts of the region and cover the rest of the country in the near future.

"As part of our editorial policy", Mr Miezan said, " We shall adopt thorough investigative reporting to dig out the news behind the news" and keep listeners abreast with current and pressing issues. He said the station would endeavour to give exposure to personalities in the region, including chiefs, businessmen, professionals and sportsmen and women and promote unity among the people.
