Spoken word King, DK Osei Yaw, whose words and sound explore the nature and psychology of man as a spiritual entity, will on Thursday, December 11 perform at the Alliance Française in Accra.

The performance is a follow-up to ‘Baasa Kro’ 2014 and is scheduled to feature fufu pounding on stage and a live video exhibition of two people having dinner at various traffic lights in Accra alongside music from the Spirit Inspiration Praise Band.

The acclaimed poet, who often performs with a Djembe drum, has recorded Spoken Word poetry and rap music with A&R of Young Money Records (USA). His poem, ‘Plenty People Chasing One Ball’ appeared in the North American anthology: ‘And The Crowd Goes Wild’, published by Friesen Press in 2011.

He has played and toured as a Spoken Word poet and rapper with the French Band Archimusic, and scouted for Badilisha. His ‘Baasa Kro’ projects have been presented on platforms such as TEDX and Global Exhibitions.

‘Baasa Kro’ means three-in-one in Twi. It was often used to represent God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. It is used to represent how DK’s multidisciplinary art career functions in a singular unit in his ‘Baasa Kro’ projects.

The objective of the ‘Baasa Kro’ project is to preserve the elements of Ghanaian culture mainly through documentation of creative art video skits and general documentations.

The performance is being sponsored by Goethe-Institut Ghana and supported by Alliance Française Accra, Pictorialist Studios, Cuppa Cappuccino, Gaari For Tor Ventures, Swiftography, Alikoto Clothing, Wear Ghana and Ameyawdebrah.com.
