Starr FM has emerged as the second most-listened- to radio stations in the country, according to a survey (February Audience Share Performance) conducted by Ipsos, a global market research company.
The research took account of radio listenership and reach within the first four weeks of February audience share, and Peace FM and Star FM emerged top, leading the other stations with enviable margins.
Although the survey mentioned Peace FM and Starr FM as the most popular stations in Accra, many industry players see the evaluation as normal in every democratic society and would encourage others to put in their best to attract more listeners to their various programmes.
According to Ipsos, the survey’s intent was not meant to demoralise radio stations but to serve as a guideline in their activities.
Starr FM is an English speaking radio station which operates from the Meridian House, Ring Road Central in Accra.
According to the station’s management, its mission is to be the leading indigenous media brand, with a global view, representing the essence of innovation and excellence.
Based on its determination to become the market leader, Anita Erskine was on Friday outdoored as co-host to Bola Ray on Ghana’s biggest afternoon drive show on the Starr Drive on Starr 103.5FM.
This would make the pair most powerful and influential duo on radio on the same platform at the same time. Introducing his co-host, Nat Kwabena Adisi, aka Bola Ray, disclosed that Anita’s inclusion would take the show to the “next chapter in radio.
