After failing to bring fans Season 5 of the hit music reality competition, Stars of the Future last year, Charterhouse is gearing up to launch the new season of the series that has seen the rise of stars like Irene, Efya, Bertha and Adina. The launch which opens the TV series is scheduled for Thursday February 16, 2011 and will see the unveiling of the 12 talented contestants drawn from the nationwide search last year. The final 12 are a result of three rounds of auditions the last of which was held in the studio with 30 delegates.
As explained by organizers, the series skipped 2010 to accommodate the first World Cup held in Africa. After the games, organizers thought it wise to wait and begin the year with the series so that all its attention will be geared towards developing the talents into future stars who will take over and own the music industry in Ghana.
Charter House has also debunked reports that Stars of the Future had lost some of its finalists selected from the nationwide auditions in 2010 to the new reality TV show, ‘Icons: Divas edition’ due to the ‘no-show’. They explained that the auditions shortlisted 30 contestants and the best 12 were chosen from the group only last month and so, it wasn’t possible that it could lose any of its 12 finalists to the ongoing Icons series which is also yet to unveil its finalists.
Being the fifth in the series, SOF 5, is expected to come along with many more angles give viewers 13 solid weeks of thrills and excitement. Regarded as Ghana’s answer to the American Idol show, Stars of the Future has become a relevant television series attracting a large following across the nation and beyond. Over the years, Stars of the Future has become a platform for budding talents to harness their skills and also realize their dreams of becoming mainstream musicians.
