With a high number of African music already in Ghana ahead of the Ghana 2008 matches, the much publicized MTN Go Africa Concert can probably be rated as the biggest to be held at the Forecourt of the Statehouse.
The sensational music trio, Blu 3 from Uganda, the ever popular Orentchy from La CoteD?Ivore, Steel Pulse from UK, the award winning 2 Face from Nigeria, Malaika from South Africa, King Nee from Togo, Metok and several others will be in Ghana for a-history making music concert.
These artistes together with seasoned and highly rated Ghanaian artistes such as Samini, Ofori Amponsah, Tic-Tac, Kwaw Kesse and many others will kick-open the Ghana 2008 matches with a roar of music at the forecourt of the Statehouse where thousands of soccer fans are expected to usher-in Ghana 2008 with music and dance.
Translating 3 Black ladies, the trio, Blu*3 is a pop group from Uganda made up of Lilliane ‘Lee’ Mbabazi, Jackie Chandiru and Cinderella ‘Cindy’ Sanyu. As can be re-called, the 3 were in Ghana to celebrate Ghana Music Awards and will be remembered for their exceptionally awesome performance that sent all dancing.
Similarly, 2 Face Idibia is no new name in Ghana. He has on several occasions, thrilled Ghanaian music lovers with top-rated shows and have almost all his lyrics registered on the lips of Ghanaians.
2 Face is an R and B artiste who hails from Nigeria and known all over Africa and beyond as a sensational KORA award winning artiste. He grew up in Jos with so much love for music but didn’t get into the act seriously until he moved into Lagos in 1997. His name 2Face, according to him, signifies the inside and outside of people.
For the purposes of readers who are probably itching to know more about the Malaika trio and Orentchy;, The Malaika is an afro pop group generally possessing peerless elemental power in the history of pop music. They consists of Bongani Nchanga, Jabu Ndaba, both battle-weary and hardened former original band members of the Stouters, and Tshedi Mholo, an innocent, church-going, unspoilt debutante former school teacher in the music world.
Orentchy on the other hand is an Ivorian who sings in English, French, Nzema, Yoruba and Swahili. He combines the Zoblazo with funky rhythms, creating a new composition which often leaves his audience cheering and rushing to the dancing floor.
Perhaps the concert will not be complete without the mention of Steel Pulse. Another highly sought after music group in the Diaspora. Steel Pulse - one of Britain’s greatest reggae bands, started out playing authentic roots reggae with touches of jazz and Latin music, and earned a substantial audience among white U.K. punks as well.
Come Saturday, Steel Pulse together with King Nee, winner a of several music awards in Togo and other parts of the world, don Metok from Benin and several others from Ghana.
