Stolen cloth exposes thieves.

Tema, Feb. 10, GNA -- A labourer, who was found wearing a piece of cloth that had been stolen from a kiosk at GHACEM area, Tema have been granted 15 million cedis bail with one surety to be justified by the Tema circuit court 'A'.

Kwaku Aggrey pleaded not guilty and will reappear on March 1, 2005, while Baba Yaro pleaded guilty and sentence was deferred till March. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Sarah Aggrey Acquah told the court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on January 15, 2005, at 0730 hrs complainant locked her kiosk at GHACEM (which she uses as her place of abode) and left for church at Ashaiman.

She said three accused, one of them now at large, took advantage of quietness of the area, broke into the kiosk and stole cloths valued at 3.1 million cedis.

Chief Inspector Acquah said one of the stolen cloths was sold to one Rebecca Sakitey, who is now on the run. When the complainant returned from church, she detected the theft of her cloths, and her son said he saw Rebecca wearing one of the stolen clothes and told the mother who also reported to Railways and Harbour police.

She said during investigations, Rebecca told police that Aggrey and Baba sold the cloth to her for 50,000 cedis and led police to arrest them, adding, that, Aggrey said it was Baba who brought the cloths to him to sell.
