The Absolut After Party last Friday at the plush Coco Lounge at Airport made it into the history books.
It was one party that had the specs of a well-crafted showpiece and many were left yearning for more.
The event, powered by Absolut Vodka, had two African music giants, South Africa’s Khuli Chana and Ghana’s Stonebwoy on hand to do what they do best, feed a hungry music crowd.
The Absolut After Party was a perfect event to celebrate all Ghanaian acts nominated for the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) and it sure did.
First to take the stage on the night was South African music star Khuli Chana who did not waste time in proving to Ghanaians why he was on the bill.
With his fluid hiphop rap skills, the South African quickly became a favourite of Ghanaians, dishing out one tune after another.
Of all his songs he performed on the night, Ghanaians were swift to adopt his ‘Mnatebawen’ hit song which had the phrase ‘wa pepe wa pepe’ which means something controversial in the Twi language.
After performing for about an hour, 2015 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Best International Act: Africa winner, Stonebwoy was next.
Stonebwoy was in his elements. Backed by a live band, he dished out hit after hit. Some of the songs that patrons sang along and danced to included ‘Baafira’, ‘Pull Up’ remix and the new hit ‘Go Higher’.
The hundreds who filled every inch of space at the Coco Lounge for the Absolut After Party left the venue truly satisfied.
