The 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Nominees Jam slated for Cape Coast this Friday was expected to have Stonebwoy as one of the headlining acts – www.entertainmentgh.com reported it, but confirmed reports indicate that the Zylofon-recording artist is no more on the bill.
With incessant accounts on the rift between the artist and his record label, Zylofon Music – observers have been watching keenly to see if the artist would mount the VGMA stage, especially after the label released a directive – informing the general public that Stonebwoy was still signed to the label and any person or firm that contracts the artist without its knowledge could face a possible suit.
This portal, www.entertainmentgh.com has concrete information that Stonebwoy will not be in Cape Coast!
George Quaye, Head of Communications for Charterhouse, organizers of the VGMAs, confirmed the news that Stonebwoy is no longer on the bill as previously advertised.
According to him, the artist is not available anymore!
Heads of Communication for Zylofon Media, Sammy Baah, stated that, if Stonebwoy was no more on the bill, it may be as a result of the directive the label sent out and Charterhouse was only respecting the instructions in that release.
According to him, Charterhouse initially booked the artist without the knowledge and consent of the label – an action that caused the legal department of the label to write to both Charterhouse and the artist over the perceived anomaly.
He stated further that, the response from the event organizers indicated that, they (Charterhouse) had already booked the artist via his Manager, Sidi Mohammed, but the label told them that, it was not appropriate and insisted they do the right thing.
That ‘right thing’ is what may have altered the performance line-up for the Nominees Jam at the Jubilee Park, which still has the likes of R2Bees, Gifty Osei, Kofi Kinaata, King Promise, Kuami Eugene and others, plus, all 6 nominees for the ‘Unsung Category’.
