Safohene Djeni, a veteran musician is not happy with the classification of the works of veterans in the industry as old music by radio presenters and says the categorization gives the impression that their music is not for the present generation.
The situation, he says affects sales of the musical works of the veterans.
In a chat with the Showbiz, in Accra, Safohene, nicknamed ?Nzema Bob Marley,? said he came out with an album about a year ago but has not found a producer due partly to the unfortunate problem.
The album, he said has the title track ?Obaatanpa? and is in the hilife vein but is considered ?old? and has not seen daylight since it was recorded. He added that five producers have listened to it but have not offered any help.
?It is such songs that should be promoted. It is such songs that should be played on the morning shows on radio because it contains good lyrics, proverbs and pieces of advice. Morning shows have great listener ship and it is at such times that songs of Nana Ampadu, Dr. K. Gyasi, Akwaboa, Ampofo Adjei, Kofi Sammy and mine should be played,? he said.
?Such songs cool tempers and will prevent he brawls that are witnessed in our studios of late, he added.
He noted that most producers were not interested in traditional songs but only in hiplife.
The Nzema Bob Marley criticized the categorization of music which makes no mention of God or Christ as ?ewiasenwom? saying only music with lewd lyrics should be considered as such. ?Songs which preach virtue do not profane lyrics and advices are gospel and should be considered as such.?
