Stop over commercializing your acts – Obour cautions musicians

President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffour, better known as Obour, has cautioned Ghanaian musicians against charging colleague musicians when they extend invitations for them to perform at their events.

Addressing the press at the launch of the Evangelist Diana Asamoah’s ‘Abba Father’ concert, Obour expressed his displeasure at the fact that musicians charge their colleagues for performing at their events.

“The ages where a colleague musician is doing a programme and we charge money for, I feel it must cease. All Gospel musicians, and of course, even secular musicians, that she would encourage to be part of this programme, please this is a humble plea. Let us treat this a sister to sister, or a sister to brother relationship. Let us cut out the over commercialization of art and let’s support one another”, he stated.

He expressed his delight with the fact that some Gospel musicians have pledged their support to the ‘Abba Father’ project without any charge.

Obour further made a call to suppliers in the music industry to offer the needed assistance to musicians who have contributed their due to the industry.
