The mechanisms and systems put in place to help artistes in the music industry has constantly received criticisms from a host of Ghanaian artistes, such as Kwaw Kese, Shatta Wale and many others, because of the system’s failure to achieve its intended goal.
Well, high-life and Afro-beat songstress Francesca Duncan Williams stage name Sista Afia has joined the likes of Shatta Wale and Kwaw Kese in the criticizing the systems of the music industry after she revealed certain people are sabotaging the hard work of plus-size female artistes in the industry.
According to the "Jeje" singer, certain people's mind-set in the music industry is leading to the discrimination of the plus-size female artistes in the music industry.
She added that "if a female artiste is big does not mean she does not have talent or the person deserves less in the industry."
She further indicated that the music industry is not for only slim ladies and that there're a lot of plus-size ladies out there who have enormous talents to showcase to the world.
"Because people are looking skinny does not mean the industry is for skinny females. Stop trying to sabotage people, there are a lot of big girls out there who have multiple talents, and they know what they're doing."
"Don't to put that out there for people to strain themselves, like you are trying to take people's dreams away. Don't be making such comments on radio and TV stations," Sista Afia said.
