The CEO of Chez Amis restaurant and popular Snapchat personality, Belinda aka Big Cheezy, has shown her support for the ongoing #FreeTheCitizens and #StopGalamseyNow protest.

The three-day protest, organised by the Concerned Citizens against Galamsey started on October 3, 2024, in Accra and is currently on its second day.

In a show of solidarity, videos circulating on social media captured the CEO of Chez Amis packaging and delivering over 100 packs of attieke, a popular West African dish from the Ivory Coast, to support the protesters.

“Popular Accra-based attieke plug, Chez Amis has shown her support for the #StopGalamseyNow and #FreeTheCitizens protesters by providing fellow demonstrators with over 100 packs of food to sustain them throughout the second day of the demonstration,” a social media post read.

This gesture was also made by other supportive businesses, including Rockz Waakye, a restaurant owned by Hiplife artiste Reggie Rockstone, who is said to have been delivering food to some of the jailed protesters.

The ongoing demonstration aims to highlight the environmental damage caused by galamsey activities and secure the release of about 53 Democracy Hub protesters detained after an earlier protest on September 22.
