Student remanded in prison custody for stealing

Cape Coast, March 24, GNA- A 17-year-old student of the Cape Coast Technical Institute, Nii Antwi Fleischer was on Wednesday remanded in prison custody for assaulting and stealing the property of one Ms Allison Stroh a Peace Corp volunteer in Cape Coast.

In the dock with him was Frank Aidoo who was charged with dishonestly receiving.

They pleaded guilty but their sentences were deferred until April 7.

Police Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court presided over by Mr Kwame Essel that Ms Stroh, is attached to the University of Cape Coast Practice Secondary School (UPSS), while and Fleishcher and Aidoo, who is a trader live at Adisadel estate.

He said on March 4, this year at about 0930 hours, Fleischer snatched Ms Stroh's handbag, which contained 100 dollars and a mobile phone, as she was walking towards the school.

He then fled into the bush, and the matter was reported to the police.

Inspector Azasoo said investigations led to his arrest and during interrogation, he admitted the offence and mentioned Aidoo as the one to whom he sold the mobile phone.
