A celebration of being fabulous, African and black, a celebration of the extraordinary essence of African fashion is what the new, sophisticated quarterly Fab Magazine is aiming for. Adaure attended the magazine launch.

Rift Valley music festival (Kenya)

Fareed checked out the Rift Valley music festival, an event that promotes and celebrates the richness of East African culture, music and art on an international stage and promotes local arts and craft. The festival was all about raising awareness and funds to assist the environmental improvement and community regeneration in Kenya. The event was held at the Lake Naivasha area in the Great Rift Valley, approximately 90km from the capital city, Nairobi.

Architecture and interior design at One & Only Resort – Cape Town (South Africa)

Lebo hooked up with architect Dennis Fabian to find out more about the design and architecture of the chic six-star hotel and spa, One&Only Resort Cape Town. He found out about the use of space and how different elements and facilities are designed to make movement, dining, shopping and the whole six-star experience possible at the hotel.

Clarens Peters – music video director (Nigeria)

Studio 53 caught up with the son of musician Shina Peters and actress Clarion Chukura, Clarence, aka Capital, currently taking over music direction in Nigeria. He started working in the industry unofficially at the tender age of eight. He not only owns the production company Capital Dream Pictures, he also has a record label, Capital Hill Records. Clarens is primarily a filmmaker, one that is hoping to be a part of the generation that will rejuvenate the movie industry. Watch out for this creative director!

Les Nubians (Helen) and her designer Xuly Bet (France)

Anita spend some time with the R&B, Grammy nominated sister duo, Les Nubians and their stylist Xuly Bet Funkin' Fashion Factory. These two sisters and slamming poetry artists have spent their lives living between France and Chad and have also become one of the most successful French Language acts in the US.

Designer Yemi Osunkoya

Fareed visited Yemi Osunkoya, a gifted designer who creates wonderful gowns that flatter and accentuate the female form, creating a beautiful hour-glass silhouette. His client list is filled with some of the most fabulous females, not only England where he is based, but from Africa and further afield.

Poster Art and Sculptor Pedro (Cuba)

Lebo recently discovered that Cubans revel in life's simple pleasures, they make music from their souls, they read the classics and dance like no one is watching! When it comes to the visual arts, they have found a novel way of communicating with the masses; Lebo discovered this through local sculptor Pedro Polido.

Motherland Tour (South Africa)

The Princess of Africa Foundation recently announced “The Motherland Tour”, a concert featuring a trio of Africa’s greats, namely, Yvonne ChakaChaka, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse and Lira. The trio served up a potpourri of musical styles and languages that kept the crowds dancing all night at an event held at Sun City! Lebo found out about “The Motherland tour down south” and hung out with the stars after their hot performances.
