For many film makers who thought Accra is the only place to succeed, movie director popularly known as Kofas says that that era of that perception has long passed as hundreds attended his movie premier in Sunyani on Thursday, April 20.
The movie John and John, which is being premiered across the country, had the cinema hall of the Eusbett Hotel, in Sunyani, filled to capacity forcing the CEO of Kofas Media to run a third show for his audience instead of the initially planned two shows for the night.
Speaking in an interview with 3FM’s Solomon Mensah, Kofi Asamoah said that he thinks “that Sunyani is a great place to explore. I just want to encourage film makers and film producers not to underestimate their audience”.
“Do not make a film and be in Accra, do a grand premier in Accra and think the whole [of] Ghana has seen the film. I think that we owe it [films] to the people because it’s for them we make these films.”
He said that this kind of enthusiasm exhibited by movie lovers encourages movie makers to work hard as their sales get increased at the end of the day.
“Sunyani has proven that the cinema culture works. This has really motivated us. So, this Friday we are premiering in Cape Coast, Saturday in Winneba and we would want to go to Tarkwa, Prestia and Ho,” he announced.
