Sunyani begins preparations towards hosting Best Teacher Awards

Sunyani (B/A) Aug. 28, GNA - The 14th edition of the National Best Teacher Award and the celebration of World Teachers' Day would be held at Sunyani on October 7, this year. In all, 82 deserving winners will be honoured at the event, which would take place at the Jubilee Park. President John Agyekum Kufuor is expected to be the guest of honour. Mrs Akua Akubour Debrah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, disclosed this at the inauguration of the local organising committee, which is chaired by Nana Kwadwo Kwakye, Deputy Regional Minister in Sunyani on Thursday. The committee is made up of representatives of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Regional Coordinating Council, Ghana Tourist Board, Information Service Department, Center for National Culture, Public Works Department and the Ghana Police Service. Mrs Debrah said the award winners would be arriving in Sunyani on October 3, where they would be taken to tourists attractions such as the Kintampo water falls, Boabeng-Fiema monkey sanctuary and the Ahafo project of the Newmont Ghana Gold Limited. She implored the various sub-committees to work hard and diligently, to ensure the success of the event.
