Susu Collector remanded for 29 million cedis embezzlement case

Mankranso (Ash), July 30, GNA- The Mankranso District Magistrate's court on Tuesday remanded a 35-year-old 'Susu' collector of the Ahafo-Ano Premier Bank for stealing 29.5 million cedis belonging to customers of the bank.

Alex Agyekum Boateng pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on August 12.

Police Inspector Carl Michael Adjeng told the court that in February, Mr Ayim Dwamena, the acting Supervising Manager of the bank, reported the theft to the Mankranso police who arrested the accused. He said the suspect was granted 40-million cedis bail to assist in investigations but jumped bail. He was arrested on July 23 in Kumasi.
