TEDxAfariwaa held in Ashaiman

The Ashaiman-Tema community hosted one of the most exciting TEDx talk events in Ghana last Saturday. Dubbed, TEDxAfariwaa, the event witnessed up to one hundred young Ghanaians; gather to share ideas on vital developmental issues with regards to their community and daily endeavours.

One after the other young change makers including Prince Adu Appiah of 1 Billion Africa, Yaw Odoom of ‘Trotro’ Diaries fame, Jessica Naa Adjeley Konney, a fashion blogger (trendsandblendsgh), Kofi Yeboah of Ghana Think Foundation, Author Richard Paa Kwesi Botchwey, Samuel Owusu Achiaw, writer and artist, Founder & President of Adesua Ye Literacy Foundation Leonard Annan, and Executive & Leadership Coach, David Mills, all took turns to share their stories and ideas on the need for Ghanaians to be committed and dedicate to the development of themselves and their community in their various fields of life.

The participants were challenged and inspired to take roles that will create value and development in their societies.

Curator of TEDx Afariwaa Charles Mensah said, it was gratifying to see TEDxAfariwaa create an opportunity for young people to brainstorm and come with ideas to solve challenges within their community.

“As young people we aspire to be part of the solution to the challenges that confront our society. I’m excited that we have several more people sharing in this dream to share ideas on how to drive the desired change in our communities.”

Charles Mensah also indicated that the organisers had plans of putting together several more community driven initiatives including career fairs and other educational and development oriented events in the Ashaiman-Tema Community.
