TV Africa Didn’t Sack Me– Naa Ashorkor

Witty and Pretty looking upcoming Ghanaian actress and TV presenter Naa Ashorkor Mensah Doku, has finally spoken openly about her unannounced exit from the station that is known for “Projecting African Values”.

Speaking exclusively to peacefmonline at the Silverbird Cinema during the press preview of Shirley Frimpong Manso’s latest movie “Check Mate”, Naa said she was not sacked from TV Africa like it is being rumoured around. “I was not working with TV Africa full time. I was working with them on contract, so my contract is over and I am done. I am no more with TV Africa. She added that she left the station on a very good note and that there is no bad blood between her and TV Africa.

Naa Ashorkor disclosed to peacefmonline that she is now working permanently with an events and production company Charter House, organizes of Ghana Music Awards, as a TV presenter and producer. “I work with Charter House now and I host a TV program called “Guess who is coming for Dinner” (produced by Charter House) which shows on GTV at 9:30pm every Tuesday.

It is a TV cooking reality show, very interesting and sometimes very touching. So anybody who still wants to see me on TV should watch me on GTV every Tuesday,” she stated. Ms. Doku also featured in the Sparrow Productions new movie where “Check Mate” she played the role of “Naana” the wife of the lead actor. Asked about what she thinks of “Check Mate”, Naa said “I feel very elated working on yet another set with Shirley Frimpong Manso.

Sparrow Production is one of the best production houses in Ghana, so working on “Check Mate” is a rare opportunity and I love every bit of it” Naa started her acting career when she was called to play a role in “Scorned”, after registering for an audition at Sparrow Productions. She has since featured in “Perfect Picture”, “Double” produced by K.SM, and now “Check Mate”.

She also went into presenting when she was invited on several occasions as a guest on a Youth program “New Generation”, on TV Africa. She later presented “Day Break Entertainment”, She went to host “Day Break” and became a co-host to Okyeame Quophi on TV Africa’s variety show “Sounds Splash!”

Naa Ashorkor has been nominated in this year’s African Movie Academy Awards for the “Best Performance by an actress in a leading role” category, alongside Bimbo Akintola, Jackie Appiah, Lydia Forson, Stephanie Okereke, Flora Suya and Akofa Edjeani Aseidu, for her role in “The Perfect Picture
