TV stations slammed for imitating foreign culture

Agona Swedru, July 24, GNA- Mr Kweku Aseidu, Agona District Co-ordinator of the National Youth council has criticise the Television Stations for showing foreign films that promoted indiscipline in the youth.

He said the type of films, dance and songs TV stations show and play had made young girls and boys to put on indecent dresses and resorted to narcotic drugs.

Speaking at the Central Regional Alhmadiyya Muslim Youth Conference at Agona Swedru, Mr Asiedu, called on teachers, chiefs, Pastors, Church and opinion leaders to lead a crusade to free the youth from indiscipline. He said that it was unfortunate that some mothers and fathers had ignored the character of some youth who would grow to become irresponsible adults.

In all 17 circuits from the 13 Districts attended the three-day conference.

The District Youth Co-ordinator urged the Muslim youth to desist from violent life, which had dented the image of the religion. Mr Asiedu noted that the tenets of the Holy Quran implored them to love one another instead hating mankind, which was against the Holy Book.

He urged the parents not to shirk their responsibility, adding that, the provision of shelter, clothing and feeding were the cardinal duties of fathers and mothers.

Mr Asiedu said parents should be able to check their went wrong or did something bad, adding that, parents must not give room for their children to operate, saying that poverty should not force them to lose control over the training of the children.

He stated that if care, was not taken, the Vice President's vision to fight indiscipline in the society would be given a different meaning. The Youth Coordinator said the vision was losing its value because some adults supposed to help curb the canker had got themselves involved in indiscipline and immorality.
