Ghanaian gospel duo Tagoe Sisters, in collaboration with Accra FM, has embarked on a project to solicit funds in aid of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital as the artistes mark their 50th birthday.

The twin sisters, Lydia Dedei Yawson and Elizabeth Korkoi Tagoe turned 50 on July 27 this year. As part of their mission to give back to society, they are raising funds for the Accra Psychiatric Hospital at the end of the year.

The duo, who have been on the Ghanaian gospel music scene for close to three decades, told Nana Romeo on Accra FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo programme on Friday July 29 that they were involved in an accident in the company of their late father years back.

To them, had it not been for the grace of God, they would have ended up mentally challenged, a recollection which has prompted them to provide support for inmates of the hospital as they celebrate half a century of life.

The two joined Accra FM on the station’s live broadcast from the Okaishie market on July 29. They interacted with, and entertained traders, after which the traders donated toiletries, buckets, drugs, hand sanitisers, toothbrushes, and an undisclosed amount of money.
