Ghanaian musician, Mzbel, has opened up about her experience with marijuana (weed), and how it has been beneficial to her.
Speaking in an interview with Zionfelix monitored by GhanaWeb on June 4, 2026, Mzbel explained that taking weed tea during yoga sessions helps calm her nerves.
According to the “16 Years” hitmaker, unlike alcohol, which makes her feel more energetic and hyper, she prefers weed because it helps her relax, meditate, and reflect more deeply.
Mzbel speaks on giving birth at 44
“I can take it anytime, but I don’t just take it randomly because it depends on what I want to experience, who I’m going to meet, and how I want to behave. So, if you see me calm somewhere, it means I have taken weed, but if you see me hyper somewhere, then it means I have taken alcohol.
“Alcohol can make you hyper, but weed makes you very calm and takes you within yourself. When I take weed tea, it helps me connect with my thoughts. Weed is a very powerful herb, and it’s very good,” she said.
Mzbel also cautioned individuals to be careful when using such substances.
According to her, first-time users should not use it without guidance because the experience can feel overwhelming.
“It can be mentally overwhelming if you take it for the first time, so we guide you and help you calm down. When used properly, it can be beneficial, but if you make it a habit, it slows you down. I only do it when it’s necessary,” she added.
