The maiden spelling Bee and Reading Competition of Teen Age Build
(TAB) Gh. commenced at Ve the (capital of Afadjato South District).
The competition which involves eight circuits will have the first part
among four circuits at Ve on Thursday, 7th August, 2014. The second
part for the remaining four circuits will be held at Have on Thursday,
14th August, 2014 and the grand final among the winners from both
circuit zones on Thursday, 21st August, 2014 at Hohoe.
The event which is under the theme; “Improving Literacy; One Word at a
Time, One Child at a Time” is a collaboration between Teen Age Build
Ghana and Afadjato South District Education Directorate with proud
sponsorship from Nneka Youth Foundation and Smart Eyes Magazine.
It is mainly to improve upon literacy among the pupils within the
district. Each of the 40 participants from primary 4 to JHS 2
representing their respective circuits will be given cirtificates of
participation, English readers and dictionaries. The overall winners
from each class level however have their next academic school fees to
be catered for by the Foundation (TAB).
TAB which was established on 14thDecember, 2013 was formally
registered at the Register General’s Department with the aim of
dealing hollistically, issues affecting the teenagers. Since the time
of its inception, the Foundation has carried out creditably
activities towards achieving its aims/objectives.
Among them include;
*.School to school talk programmes.
*.Community sensitisation programmes on issues affecting teenagers.
*.Series of radio programmes.
*.A successful launched of the Foundation.
*.Establishment of the Teenage Girls Empowerment Club (TGEC) in some schoools.
*.BECE workshop for the 2014 candidates of Afadjato South District.
For efficiency in operation, the Foundation has for two times also
organised workshop for the members.
Before the close of year, the Foundation is sure to host it’s
Teenagers Empowerment Summit in Ho, organised leadership conference
for prefects and headteachers within the Afadjato South District and
will also reach the schools on it’s itinerary that are not yet
reached.
In an interview with the President and Founder of the Foundation, Mr.
Divine Kpe, he profoundly extended his heartfelt appreciation to all
team members for their respective catalyst roles played in achieving
these remarkable successes. He again acknowledged their
partners/sponsors and in similar vein, called for more supports from
philanthropist and organisations.
