Teenage Rape Case Moves to Circuit Court

The Dunkwa Community Tribunal presided over by Mr. Robert Adjei has discontinued hearing of a case in which a 14-year-old girl was allegedly defiled by four strong teenage boys.

The chairman of the tribunal disclosed to the Chronicle that he could not handle the case anymore because the father of the victim was allegedly said to have smelt something fishy in the manner the court has adjourned the case on three consecutive times. The tribunal chairman explained that such cases needed hard concrete evidence and would, therefore, not rush and draw hasty conclusions.

When the Chronicle contacted the prosecutor Inspector Gamiah for his version on the issue, he stressed that the case would be re-arranged for hearing at a circuit court. It would be recalled that the Chronicle previously made a publication on the tribunal's delay of a defilement case in one of its April issues, this year, over which the family expressed misgivings.

A date was yet to be fixed for hearing at the time of going to press.
